A great skin relies on establishing and maintaining a skin care routine that is effective, yet simple enough that you can follow every day. Your routine should take into account your skin type, skin health and lifestyle with a focus on the skin results that you want to see.
A good foundation to skin health always includes the morning and night basics of:
1. Correct cleansing
2. Toning if required
3. Moisturising and SPF protection
Cleansing is one of the most important steps in your skin care routine! It’s the first step for a healthy skin and not only does it remove excess oil, dirt and pollution, it prepares your skin for further products. The perfect cleanse consists of thoroughly cleansing your skin using your chosen cleanser for your skin type.
How to use:
Use your chosen cleanser. Apply with dampened hands and massage cleanser over skin. Rinse off with lukewarm water using the prodermal premium facial cloth or damp cotton pads. If wearing make-up, follow with a second cleanse to ensure all traces of makeup, dirt and the days pollution are removed effectively.
- Remember to cleanse around the hairline, ears and neck and focus on areas of congestion.
- Dedicate a couple of minutes to your cleansing routine for maximum skin health benefits.
- Rinse well and ensure no trace of cleanser is left on your skin.
Toning. If you like to use a toner, it will help to hydrate the skin, increase product absorption and shield the skin from environmental assault.
How to use:
After cleansing and before the application of your moisturiser, spritz your chosen toner over your skin.
Moisturisers are a must for every skin. They help to protect your skin against the environment and regulate moisture balance to keep skin soft and smooth. There is a moisturiser for every skin type and concern to maintain your skins health.
How to use:
Apply a small amount of your chosen moisturiser and apply over your face and neck. This is also the time to apply your chosen eye treatment cream. If you are heading out into the sun, apply your sunscreen now, or use a moisturiser that has a SPF built into the formulation.
Now, you have the basics, you can choose to add further skin specific products into your routine like exfoliants, masques and targeted treatment products like serums.
Using an exfoliant to remove the build-up of dead skin cells help to keep your skin clear and healthy. Depending on your skin type and preference, you may opt for a leave on type exfoliant to use once to twice a week or a daily exfoliant product that you can use once a day.
- Always use your exfoliants according to product instructions.
Masques can be used once to twice a week. Apply after exfoliation and leave on for approximately 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse well and apply moisturiser.
target skin concerns
Targeted treatment products like serums and boosters can be added directly onto your skin or mixed into your moisturiser, depending on the product. Your Prodermal therapist can provide you with professional advice to further customise your skin care routine as needed.
Remember, great skin is a habit!
